Quick Change Clip.... or whatever you call it
I've seen some people using those clips to change out plugs quickly when fishing in the surf. How does everyone feel about these? I saw someone using one in a video and it got me thinking. I usually tie directly to my lure, but that clip definitely saves time if there was a blitz going on.
To clip or not to clip? That is the question :D |
Re: Quick Change Clip.... or whatever you call it
Tactical anglers clip. I love them for bucktailing for fluke. I will say, I normally get the bigger clips, the 75lb+ model, reason being it’s easier on the fingers when grabbing and opening. They also work well for diamon jigs for blue fish. I have had good success with striped bass working a floating plug.

Re: Quick Change Clip.... or whatever you call it
Used them in one shape or another for over a decade , no issues on inshore fish at all or even wrecking offshore . I prefer the spring type but both work well ! I believe they are sold by Bill Norman Co. These are In shore use only !

Re: Quick Change Clip.... or whatever you call it
I've used the TA Clips for the last several years.
They make jig/lure changing very easy and have never failed. 50# for fluke & heavier for bass & blues. |
Re: Quick Change Clip.... or whatever you call it
I use them regularly while surf fishing for Blues. It just makes it easier to change rigs as needed..that is my two cents....RAMMIE is back at almost full strength and just about ready to hit the surf!!!! See ya all later....

Re: Quick Change Clip.... or whatever you call it
I use them when jigging tuna...a quick change if others are hooked up & I'm not---probably I'm using something weird as an experiment that they don't like...

No terminal tackle used on my rigs:eek::D

Re: Quick Change Clip.... or whatever you call it
Tactical angler clips when plugging for stripers. Makes quick change really easy during a hot surf bite. #50+ size. I use 50s and 75s.

Re: Quick Change Clip.... or whatever you call it
I dunno, I don't see a whole lot of advantage over a plain old snap.. You can change a lure with a snap in 5 seconds or so.. I mean does this thing cut it down to 4??.. Just wondering what the advantage is other than being 5 times the price of a snap...
Personally, I like the look of these better- https://www.ebay.com/itm/100pcs-fly-...9AdA:rk:2:pf:0 |

Unless we are talking about 500 pound tuna, a plain old interlocking snap of good quality would b more than enough for any fish likely to be caught inshore.. This style..https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-50pcs-F...N3zJlVSb_Q2kOQ |
Re: Quick Change Clip.... or whatever you call it
thanks for the insight, gents! I want to do a lot more bluefish/fluke/striper fishing this year so i'm going to have to pick some up.
That being said I'm definitely a saltwater greenhorn so if anyone wants to fish this spring reach out to me! Always looking to make new friends and learn new things. Tight lines all! |
Re: Quick Change Clip.... or whatever you call it
Decoy Egg Snap freshwater, TA clips saltwater...
No snaps on sub 1oz bucktails/jigs. Discovered an Italian company called Sea Spin, they make a 6lb and 10lb TA style clip for freshwater. Shipping is a killer, but they are very convenient for those recessed eyes on certain jerkbaits/crankbaits. Baits are flash pointer 100 and pointer 78DD for size comparison; that's the 10lb clip...they seem well made but only time will tell. https://i.imgur.com/9BW9pZ6.jpg https://i.imgur.com/labEKrz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/bU9ZFbY.jpg |
Re: Quick Change Clip.... or whatever you call it
That clip on the lip looks as if it would add a little rattle to it if you work it correctly.
