D+R Canal

http:///Users/sharonhealy/Desktop/102_0390.jpg

After years of overlooking this extensive body of water I decided this year I would spend some time there. I've been very impressed! It doesn't take long to catch some decent pickerel and there's enough bass action to keep things interesting. But one of the things I like best is the multiple species that are possible. In one days outing I caught SMB ,LMB, Pickerel. yellow perch, bluegill, channel cats and I even saw a muskie ! Needless to say I'll be spending some more time on the D+R Canal . Trying to post pictures.

Use live sunnies for the tigers that are in there near the locks. Chunk the sunnies up for big channels and flatheads

Looks like dredging has started on the upper parts.

I am going to try just that! I've thrown everything in my box at them to no avail, if I didn't see them I would swear there were none! lol.

That's neat that they're dredging.

Just remember a way to get them up over the wall once you hook em. Ive seen folk with drop nets.

LOL. Yes Sir ! I've lost some nice bass trying to pull them up that wall.

Catch eels at night, knock them half out, give them a free lip piercing with a 1/4 oz. 3/0 with some 20-30 lb test and toss them back in the lock! Just make sure you have a way to get them up the wall.

Oh and don't put your rod down!
