Raritan River: first ever walleye (part 3)

Didn't two folk just make a thread about their first walleyes? Here's part three. :D

Big thanks to all who convince me to keep trying the river.

Landed on 6lb test on a cheap shad rap off-brand. Adrenaline blasted!

Also thanks to a man named Lance for taking the picture.

Congrats on the first!! Always feels good to check a new species off the list! I tried a bunch of different lakes and approaches trying for my first and came up empty. Ended up catching it in a river trout fishing.....

Nice fish!!

YEA BUDDY!!! Thats a superb Walleye for your first! Hang in there and eventually the river will reward you! It takes time but just stick with it! I always tell myself there’s something down there and usually there is! Way to go man!!!!:D

P.S. That’s a female! She’s all spawned out!

Love hearing reports of that river giving up a first eye! That fishery is getting better every year.

Nice eye dude, looks like you were near the ladder. I just got back from there and didn't have a bite. Salvaged the morning by getting a bunch of perch in the canal. Congrats!

Re: Raritan River: first ever walleye (part 2)

Does anyone have any information about how or from where did these 'eyes make it into the Raritan? Can the canal have influenced any fish movement?

Jigman13 04-01-2018 08:58 PM

Re: Raritan River: first ever walleye (part 2)

Yes. And a few good floods connecting the canal and river displacing everything
