I'm starting to like this NJ Trout Fishing
1 Attachment(s)
After my fun day on Monday with the native browns I had to try again so I stopped on my way home from work. I landed 5 more browns on the rapala countdown. The first four I released without taking them out of the water. But I had to get a picture of this piggy. I saw this fish flash as I was about to lift my lure out of the water so I dipped my rod tip and the fish inhaled the plug at my feet. What a beautiful fish! Measured 22-3/4" and swam away strong!

Damn that's a big one. I guess you picked a good lure!

Re: I'm starting to like this NJ Trout Fishing
Browns are not native to NJ. But they are wild from Browns stocked long ago. Great looking fish!
You should thing about getting a net and not putting the fish on the ground like that |
Re: I'm starting to like this NJ Trout Fishing

Re: I'm starting to like this NJ Trout Fishing
There have been two people who posted on my catch and release tactics so I guess I will clarify this. I should have put this in my original post but please look closely at my fish where the lure is in its mouth. You will notice there is no line connected to the lure. Why, because I had the fish in the water and while I was reaching down with my hemostats to remove the hook. The fish shook its head and popped my line. So, I had two choices, let the fish swim off with my plug still in its mouth, or grab it and lay it on shore. You'll notice the foam line in the picture because the fish is 6" from the edge of the stream. At that point its already on shore so I took a picture of it. I normally don't remove trout from the water I reach down and unhook them in the water. I will lay a fish on the snow once in a while like I did the other day and take a picture. I know how to handle fish, I know about their slime coat and I know how to tail and revive them. So, thanks for the advice but now you know the whole story. I will go back to lurking because its obviously not worth posting pics. And yes it was caught in Jersey!

Very nice fish!

Re: I'm starting to like this NJ Trout Fishing
ARush great fish and I know you personally so my comments were just ball bustin as you know. It amazing how many great browns are swimming in our waters and the state still hasn't fixed the hatchery so they can stock them again and create even more waters with them thriving.
You sure you didnt kick that fish back into the water !! Oops I did it again 😁 |

People will instinctively think you are not good at CnR judging off photos.
Alternatively I can thwomp the fish on the ground and cover it with dirt before rinsing it all off and taking a pic of the fish in a net and no one will know. Don't let it deter you from posting in the future. |
Re: I'm starting to like this NJ Trout Fishing

p.s. those fish are all dead, they were caught on a treble hooked plug, touched the air, and then touched the ground, you're a murderer...nice catching though. please see this site for proper fish handling: www.PETA.com |
Re: I'm starting to like this NJ Trout Fishing
Nice Chris
Thanks for the PETA link From now on I'm just gonna kill em and grill em and every can kiss my ass, lol |

See thumbnail attached below. This is the best way to take a photo I think. Just support their head and try to keep the rest of the body in the water or at least on a wet surface. This was a colorful wild brown caught a few weeks back. |
Re: I'm starting to like this NJ Trout Fishing
Are you saying that Arush's fish looks mishandled ??
It is amazing the same guys post fish all the time and not one post about handling. Someone else posts a great fish and there is all of this. Can't tell you how many bass are being held the wrong way and nothing said. I'm with Arush time to go back to lurking. |
Re: I'm starting to like this NJ Trout Fishing
Don't stop posting reports and photos. Ignore the nonsense. Note Royal Coachmans post count. 1 post. Looking to stir the pot. F it dude. He's from the trout board very few people frequent. Consider him schmeg lol
I'm a conscious angler but I fish a lot, alone, at nite. This makes for difficult moments. It's not always easy to CPR without some shake and bake or what have you. If the fish swims off healthy on its own then you did your job. Nice fish man... Quote:

Re: I'm starting to like this NJ Trout Fishing
How somebody with3 whole posts to his credit can parachute in and lecture guys who have been posting here for years redifines unmitigated gall.

Re: I'm starting to like this NJ Trout Fishing
