Good Day at RV
 

Me and the wife set out on Saturday to do some fishing at RV, when we got there, the wind was NASTY, and it was cold, but the diehards we are, we launched the boat and headed out for some Lakers. Not as bad as you would think, we were dressed right, and kept warm all day. Picked up a small Rainbow, and 3 Lakers, and lost another 3 bringing them to the boat. We are always catch and release, but WOW, these Lakers are sooo good to eat, they made the trip to the frying pan. The BOW was released back to the water. All caught on artificial baits.

Wow! Nice bag o’ fish Rich and wife! Those are some beautiful Lakers right there man! You guys must be nuts being out there in a boat in harsh conditions, lol! Good stuff!!! Keep on catchin’!!!:D

I hear keeping lakers that size is encouraged.

Yes you are correct, that's basically your cookie cutter laker in RV. the limit on them is 6 per person, and 1 24"+. Yea, I smell some warm weather in a couple days. Sorry Ice guy's, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

LOL, I'm still all about the Bass, but it's nice to switch it up. Considering how HARD the lakers fight. Very fun !!

chalk one up for the open water guys very nice haul of fish.you don't like ice fishing but you will go out on rvr in windy conditions with cold weather.:confused: go figure.well done rich you two did well:cool:

Thats a funny point you make :D, and your right, it's not that I dont like Ice fishing, it's mostly because, I just never did it (I know one time and it will hook me) and I dont have any ice fishing gear. I do wanna make it out there with some of you guy's to hang out a day on the ice, and see what it's all about. I have to find out where everyone goes. BE SAFE OUT THERE GUY'S.

Today, main boat ramp is iced in.

Snow on the ice for quite a ways out.

Great lakers... give you credit for sticking it out and putting some quality fish on the boat. That wind was brutal!

Looking forward to it freezing myself. With the extended cold snap I'm suprised it hasn't happened already. If two weeks of overnight temps in single digits doesn't freeze it, what the heck does it take? A few years ago it was frozen solid across and I don't recall it being all that cold for so long that year.

I agree, It is the wackiest stuff I have ever seen, how the heck it did not freeze a couple weeks ago is beyond me, but yet, a couple years back, it froze completely, and I also do not remember it being that cold either. Things that make you go HMMMMMMMMMM LOL

This AM:

Snow covered thin ice over in the main boat ramp cove & the same from the far side eastern shore. Open water in the middle.

Expecting the warmer temps & NW winds today to break it up.

Planning on wade fishing the far side tomorrow.

Yesterday, far shore was filled with floating ice. Found only a small area where
I could wade knee deep in what seemed like floating shards of plate glass (sounded like wind chimes) & cast to open water. No Luck. Surprised a red fox on the trail, & saw 3 Pileated Woodpeckers.

This morning @ 7:45, in the parking lot, 3 boats hitched to vehicles.

Two of them pulled out behind me on to the road,.....as main boat ramp was still iced in.
