Time for big baits! Just dusted the tip ups. I'm ready. Would be nice to have a little more consistency this season. I guess we'll see soon enough!

Well then, it looks like the NW winds are going to settle down for a couple days. This wind is notorious for eating ice in NJ! That’s all about to change. We should be making ice sometime tonight. It will be snow ice but it’s a start. Post your findings here if you don’t mind. Let’s see what happens boys and girls!!!:D

shawnee is the biggest lake that i know of that freezes in total super quickly before everything else except back woods ponds and certain coves of certain places depending on the wind. anyway shawnee was locked up again this morning after being smashed up a bit by the wind yesterday. It usually makes about an inch + per day with these current temps so, it should be ready by sunday haha...that being said, it's private so you'll have to let me know if you want to go :D

Hahahahaha, safe ice in NJ!!! Hahahahaha!!!! Maybeeee!!! Just remember guys! After tomorrow most places will be making ice from scratch. It’s slim pickins out there now and we have some wind to deal with on Sunday or Monday I believe. If we’re going to make ice it should start Christmas night hopefully! Wear those picks and vests and spud, spud, spud away! Some good arctic air is moving in! Let’s do that ice dance this weekend!:D

It’s another world once you get north of Rt 80! I’m surprised anglers don’t have different areas programmed into there phones on certain weather apps! It can be 22 degrees at Monksville res while 30 miles south ,on the same day, Spruce run is at a balmy 36! Elevation, elevation!!!!!
