Monster NJ rainbow

Hard to describe this one in words...this thing put up one of the best fights i've ever had. I wondered into a new stretch of river hoping for the best. A cut out bank tree caught my attention and i took probably 6 casts at it before this beautiful beast put my lure to a dead stop...

i remember thinking i was snagged but my instincts kicked in and i just set the hook and this monster took me for a 4-5 minute battle! ran me through the overhanging shore brush...darted at my legs making me side step her. as i finally lifted my net under her my lure got caught on the outside...that's how close i was to losing this fight! Chalk up another PB for 2017!

hmm, close to 100 trout caught (mostly wild) over the past 2 years, none seriously harmed by the evil barbed treble plug...hmmmmmmm

Now that's a beast Bow ladies and gents!!! Beautiful fall colors! Perfect full fins! Looking at the fins they appear to be a little flared up, swollen, suggesting an older more mature fish thats been in the river a while! That ain't no recently stocked fish! That's for damn sure! Great catch man!!!!!:D

I took a really quick tape to it in the net as it was resting (i have a pretty big floating basket net) looked like 22" but looking at the picture and remembering how absolutely thick it was, i feel like it had to be longer, but i guess i have to say 22" haha

Hah I bet you thought it was a pike at first.

water was so clear and shin/knee deep so i saw it clear as day as seconds after it hit and started rolling on the surface. I knew what it was but i wasn't expecting it to NEVER SURRENDER! This fish had to have been living in the wild for a while imo, just based on the fins, color, and fight it put up.

4-5 minutes of intensity and then as soon as i took the picture and put it back it thumped my hand away and took off disappeared! didn't even need to be revived! I couldn't believe the stamina! I'm pretty sure this fish has defeated a few anglers in it's day. by the time i finally got the net under it, she was already unhooked, that's how close it was! Good luck to the next guy that hooks this beast. She's tough, but be careful with her :)

Looks similar to the fish that brad pitt caught in the river runs through it except you didn’t have to swim in the water to fight the fish like he did. Great job man. That definitely would have made my season.
