iPad and Droid Visitors
Need some help here from iPad and Droid users... When you are on the message board do you see the social media sharing buttons?
On my computer and my iPhone they are shown on the side.... Not showing on my iPad but some say they are seeing them at the bottom of the page. Thanks for your help and let me know what you're seeing... And for those of you who didn't know, these buttons allow you to share posts or other content on our site to sites like Facbook, Twitter or to email then to others. |

Re: iPad and Droid Visitors
A rather large bar across the bottom of my android tablet.
Worst part is the bar stays on the screen when you type. |

Yes I get the buttons on Android

Re: iPad and Droid Visitors
the buttons cover up stuff on the screen and do not remember that you have closed them!

Re: iPad and Droid Visitors
also to confirm - yes, for me on android, the social media buttons that you can't close are there, taking up 10% or more of the vertical screen space along the whole width of the bottom! means i can see LESS of NJF now while the rest of the screen is taken up by stuff i will never use (don't have/don't want facebook, etc.).
can you please provide a way for non social media users to turn these buttons off? they literally are taking up screen space that could be fishing posts (or at very least NJF sponsor ads) that i come to NJF to view. |

I use Chrome on my iPad. I don't see the bar or buttons at all. Website loads nicely for the iPad screen and doesn't have any clutter.

Re: iPad and Droid Visitors
With the new version of the code for sharing these buttons, I have the ability to move the buttons easily in the settings. Reading some of the comments I moved the buttons to the top of the screen so they should not be in your way for typing on an Android device.
They will be on the left side for desktop/laptop computers and at the top for mobile devices. |

NJFishing.com, now with 9.3% less NJFishing.com! seriously, this is a terrible change. what was wrong with the social media buttons you had before? why force this on us and make it so we can't see as much NJF? adblock will fix this easily enough on PC but it really kind of sucks on mobile |

social media is all noise and gets in the way of content that I want to see..... maybe i am just a cranky old man but I hate what FB and tw@tter have done to our culture |
Re: iPad and Droid Visitors
Thanks guys for the feedback! I do appreciate it!
I went in and reduced the size of the buttons. If you are willing to do the math... then I am gonna sit up and listen! ;-) As for the hide feature... You cannot have an option to temporarily hide the buttons on the mobile version. Sorry! I don't want to get caught in a discussion about social media or the loathing of these buttons. I promise I will try and find the right solution between meeting the needs Gerry set for me and trying to appease the lion share of this community. I do appreciate your patience as I try things out. I'll try not to have these get in the way. Thanks again guys!! |
Re: iPad and Droid Visitors
Guys, I may have a solution! For the desktop the buttons will float to the left.
For the mobile device you will have a small circle with the arrow in the lower right corner. You click/touch that and it will expand. You click the + sign and it will disappear. It uses the least amount of space on the screen for a mobile device. Thoughts? |
Re: iPad and Droid Visitors
I didn't mind the bar on my phone but I'm sure the folks who disliked it will appreciate the minimize/expand option you've coded.
