The last chance will be asleep by 10am from being woken up for 2am feedings. Team Salt/Cadi - Newcomers who's only chance at a "win" is if they carpool then they'd "win" on saving gas money lmfao Team Fish Cakes - Better chance they won't make you chase them over 2 counties to collect YOUR money than them winning the pre-lim Team Dollar/Faust - 2 buddies who do well on private boat......you know the type......"yeah that's a keeper, throw it in the box" (pssst 12" is NOT a keeper) Team Ambassador - Lefty, Kurtis, Hart.....et al - Kurtis makes cut to 2nd week.........maybe. Others??? Lefty will take kids for pics with Santa and Larry out shopping for Channuka (spelling, kill me.......I'm Irish) Team Zagorski - They'll win the beer drinking contest. They easily out catch the FIELD (rocks and snags on the bottom, not fish). The mates fingers will be raw from re-tying these two. A perfect day for "Jerry" and Joe is sitting on a 56' Henriques while someone hooks up a tuna and hands them the rod. |

Caint wait mike this might be my year to take the crown...Louie hit the right fish today for PUOSU pre fish trip....i guess the meditation and music works for him..Black Cloud is chomping at the bit and i wouldnt rule him out just yet this trip is redemption....The new guy Capt Meat is a puller lets see how he handles under pressure..Ohhh yea caint forget Sea Soda well he is a professional charter boat operator how could he not catch..

the odds makers have short memories. I caught one of the biggest fish in last years pre-lim.
I have a couple of teenagers on the mimi in the last two years. already have a double digit this year. yes it is true that I could not find a keeper in the finals last year, but if i remember it was a tough day for all (but the winner, who pulled a rabbit out of a hat)! I will be ready with my A game! PS: did you have a chance to check on my "pets"? will hook up with you Sunday AM to give you a hand with the whites and collect some of the "hangers" |

Just got off the phone with LAB, accused me of being over 300 LBS.!:eek:
Told him that last I checked I was ONLY 280. his response "if you are 280 I will kiss your ass in macys window" No need to go to macys, I will accept a "peck on the (ass) cheek" on the stern of the OE! PUCKER UP! |

Serious question.
It's is my first puosu event. I wanted to know how it worked. I know people are bringing food and such, i will as well. My main question is if I have to keep fishing after I catch my clear cut final qualifying tog in the first 20 minutes. Can I just sit inside afterward eating, drinking, and laughing at all the swing and misses? Or do I have to continue to pull up more fish reducing the chances for the guys fishing near me? |

Reef - Since you are new to PUOSU let me tell you how this works.
1) Get the most ripe banana you can find 2) Once we are all boarded LAB will be walking around the boat. He's sort of keeps his banana addiction on the QT so just sneak one in his pockets or tackle box. He will appreciate this alot although he might not express it in that way to keep up his cover. That aside, and LAB will have to clarify, bit I beleive you can keep as few or as many fish as you'd like up to your legal limit and fish as much or little as you'd like. At the end of the day you need to give LAB your one contender for the weigh in which will be returned to you. He also really likes it when people ask questions that he has already covered in the rules in the initial post. I would encourage you to PM him several times since he craves this sort of attention. PMP!! :D |

Ok Rocket Scientists (and thank you for your imput Gerry Z AZZ).
Rule #1 NO EFFING BANANAS ON THE BOAT. PERIOD! I got your money..........you can go antiquing with your wife for all I care. You can eat and drink yourself into a stupor but "no" I have a ZERO tolerance for STUPID drunks (I learned a sweet flying bank sinker trick from Slow Scott). You can fish or sleep. You can weigh in EVERY fish you catch, upgrading along the way. If you become a PITA doing this with 2# fish, see the trick listed above. If you catch a serious fish (as per The Polish Puller's ?), you have 2 options. Keep it alive in a tote to weigh at 3 whistles or weigh it and release immediately. After 3 whistles, EVERYONE is allowed to weigh in a fish (unless you feel you've already weighed in your biggest fish, which has been recorded). EVERYONE'S fish's weight is recorded. The top 15 weights are invited to fish for the PUOSU Title on 12/16 on the Mimi. EVERYONE'S weight will be listed, IN ORDER. As one of the REAL fishermen (top 15) bails on the Mimi trip because they don't have the ballz to TELL their wife they are fishing again, the NEXT person on the list is invited. Last year we had 5-6 eunichs (spelling) bail on the Mimi trip so even though they didn't initially qualify, some hacks moved UP on the list and fished with the MEN. And let me state this CLEARLY for the record. Last year I qualified in the top 15 on the Ocean Explorer then decimated the wanna-be's on the Mimi. IF (yeah, ok) I don't make the top 15, I will not qualify for the title. BUT, regardless of qualifying or not LAB will be fishing on the Mimi. To quote a famous movie "my charter, my rules" I will be brutally honest at this point. I will be fishing in the port/stern corner. I may move from time to time but will return to that spot when we move. You MAY think since I moved and you went into that spot that you're entitled to begin the next drop in THAT spot. Sure you are. But the second you move your rod to re-tie your rig (because I openly cut it off and threw it overboard), I will move back into MY SPOT. :p Another point I feel you might want to know. If you like a nice, quiet and relaxing fishing day...........try the bow. If you have thin skin...........try the starboard/forward side of the boat. I'm loud and obnoxious (so I've been told but my Mother loved me). Every time you swing and miss.........You'll hear it. Drop a nice fish and you might as put on a saddle because I'm riding you all day. But in defense.........I dish it out but can take it too. I'm not a good fisherman and haven't been out in forever so you can expect LAB to mess up. BE READY. OH........also remember I will have a camera. God forbid you fall asleep..........you'll hope you never wake up. LMMFAO!!!:eek: We'll have fun and catch some fish. Just most of you won't catch fish as well as I will, and you'll have to hear about it HERE. |

Crabs are what fishermen use to fish for black fish. If you have hermits..........bring them. You put a hermit down and bring up a dogfish........the mates will fillet it for you to take home. If you bring clam, you will be asked to drive down to Brielle or Point to fish on one of the LING boats. If you choose to use blackfish jigs........PLEASE go bounce your shyte in the bow. Thank you for the clarification and thank you Gerry, i do not personally know LAB and would have never guessed he was covering up his love of those monocarpic flowering plants. Please do not worry, no "EFFING" banana brand for sure, I assumed Chiquita was the preferred. I hear if you peel em correctly they can be hung right over the stern rail.
By the way Gerry, do you know if there will be crabs on board? I just got a tip for party boat blackfishing too. I head if you get real close to the port stern, put on four 8 oz weights, and string your line with glass and metal beads and old cans of banana cake frosting and bounce the hell out of it constantly making as much noise as you can it improves you chances greatly. Do you know how many bushels and if there will be green crabs? Also, isnt there some other method of casting over other lines and slowly trying to all the lines toward you to bring the fish in? Actually, if anyone brings a banana I will personally help you throw them off LAB. I had one experience with a banana on a boat and we nearly killed the , how do you say it, effer!
