I think the pics are great, and as said their isn't a sponsor here from Alaska. I was just stating if that poster had taken a minute to actually look the info was there.

Wow! Incredible fishing! Congratulations on a great time!

How much meat did each guy bring home? Or have shipped home? How expensive was that? I know that the airlines limit you to 50 lbs for free. You then pay for anything over that number. Thanks!

how many halibut you can keep per day in Tanaku ? I remember you can keep two halibut in Seaworld several years ago.

Regulations are tight. We did not keep any small ones except on the days certain areas were closed. You need to be an attorney to figure out the regulations. We wound up with 2 boxes each which is close to 100 lbs which was more than enough. The fish were split up evenly by species. I had a totol of 16 people. I organized the group fishing with different people and different boats. It worked out perfectly. 1 per person per day. There are so many different species to fish for it does not matter

Always raises more questions than answers. I'm SURE the summer season is short and the winter season is LONG. Makes for a small window of opportunity.
Bag limits ? Size limits ? Fish packed in dry ice and sent out on the next flight home $$$ ??
Licences ? Cost on that. additional permits ?

Re: Just Back From Alaska - AMAZING

I would need an attorney to decifer bag limits and areas open and closed

The Captains know where to go and when

As far as fish processing

No dry ice needed. They are blast frozen to perfection. Cut down into 1 to 2 lb bags and labeled by species

Every airline is different. I took 1 checked bag and 2 fifty pound fish boxes which cost a totol of $ 75

If you want to turn the trip into a MEAT TRIP

DONT GO

We had an outstanding trip and wound up with 85 to 98 lbs of fish including weight of boxes

The days of going to Alaska and bringing home 150 lbs per person are OVER

For me its not about how much fish I bring home but about the overall Alaska experience

This trip is NOT affordable for EVERYONE and I get it. I am fortunate because I have such a huge group that I get comped as a "guide" with that said that still excludes the Float Plane, Back and fourth to Juneau, Fishing License and incidentals. The 15 guys that went with me all said it was worth the $$$$$.

I was also able to get a substantial discount for the guys I brought with me

It is not needed to spend this much to go to Alaska but it was by far the most relaxing and BEST expieriance. This was my 5th Alaska trip and cant wait to go back in 2020
