Re: every two years?

Last summer i fished all over the place (SH bay, Shark and Manasquan rivers in the yak, and RB in the yak) and the numbers were definitely there at SH and Shark River, but not a lot of keepers. At sandy hook, I'd catch 50+ fluke per day with 2 keepers if i was lucky. But the majority of my fish were between 17 and 17.5 inches, so i wasn't getting dinks. The year before i was getting many more keepers, but the size limit was 17.5 so that's probably why. As for Raritan Bay, that place hasn't been the same since Sandy. I got a few 5+ pound fluke there last summer, but that's about it. I'd either catch a beast or nothing. Granted i was fishing in a kayak so my range was limited, so i'd stick near the keyport sailboats. Hopefully this upcoming summer is better than last, already getting cabin fever lol

I don't believe in that one year to other year stuff all it has to with is conditions.
Wind against tide, too much wind to fast a drift & water temps all play a big thing. I did not do good with the numbers last year but what I did do good with was the size of the fish. Being with the right boat & Capt. helps as well. Last year it was a very cool summer a lot of north east winds not common for summer fishing. I think that's why the offshore Tuna was good because of it. I also remember seeing blue inshore water at a stretch in the early part of the season last year as well. I think this bad weather we had this winter is good for us. Less people fishing both recs & commercial boats tied to the docks is good.
Last year we had a lot of snow but fishing conditions were better for the boats that ventured offshore. So I'm positive for the comming year but let us all pray for the good conditions & good luck to all.
