I don't about most of you guys but for me I fish all three of those lakes and my success this year was def way off compared to the last few years. Granted I didn't fish as much this year I still made a decent amount of trips and although the fish I caught for the most part were pretty good ones the numbers were way down. Hoping for some good ice this so we can get out and have a NJF Polar Vortex Meet & Greet and talk about all these great subjects!

yeah it used to be better i know, but it's still good. I had a blast this summer, most trips a few hours landing 4-10 lakers and many of them between 27-29.5 inches and even the smaller 22-24 inch ones fought plenty hard. hell i even hooked a 20 inch smallmouth and thought it was an average sized laker before i saw it, just based on how hard it was fighting.

anyway a bunch of lakes have gone downhill.... Hopatcong fished fine in the spring imo but the past two falls have been crap and who knows why...

if you ask me, way too many people keeping bigger fish def isn't helping. I'd never argue with anyone's right to do it, but i just wish people would be smarter and decide for themselves. we can't count on regulations, we all know they are not based on any kind of real science or evidence. and organizations like the KDC don't promote catch and release of bigger fish and in fact do the opposite with weigh in contests and stuff and no one keeps the fish alive...kind of turned me off to them the past few years.

and just to be clear, I am NOT against keeping fish...but some fish are worth more in the water for EVERYONE whether you like to eat a lot of fish or never.
