Not sure I would go that far Sam but again you did say "something: so I see a dogfish or Ray or something worse in Frans future.

Okay we got 5 days to go and this Thread is way too quiet but maybe that's the new plan: Stay quiet so we don't scare the Fish

Looks like with a few tire kickers and some maybes we are around 35 anglers and if the past is an indicator will top out between there and 40 so plenty of room on this boat for all. Fran is attacking the sandwiches, soft drinks etc / Gerry is on the bevarages from JJ's and I have been working on the raffle prizes. Again this year we will have some gear, rigs and open boat trips from our sponsors.
Will update the actual kitty as it comes together. As always the 50/50 will be a nice additional as well.

Remember this guy in attached picture? Ron will be back to defend last years Title 3.5 lb Flukeasaurus : well for these trips its quite a catch!

AND of course no being humble on this trip. Actually had Henry make Joe and myself T Shirts to rub it in even more. They will be unveiled on Sunday!

Start some chatter boys and this is our year! Again if you are on the fence we have some spots left.

Can't wait dave. Thanks for all the hard work putting these trips together. With this bunch of characters it is defiantly going to be a good trip. I see a pool winning fluke in my future ;-p

Re: RFA-NJ 6th Annual Flukathon

Left you a VM earlier......Making up some extra special bucktails and bringing the new guy to the event who is a sharpie.....Gentleman's pool ($10/pp) for biggest fluke? I'll collect the money from everyone since it will go in my pocket this year anyway!!! ;);):D

Always a great time on these trips and for a great cause so if you are on the fence you should jump on. Right now the winds for Sunday morning are predicted to be light out of the west and west is best.

If you can't make it but would like to make a contribution to the RFA that would be great as well. All Officers in the RFA NJ Chapter are volunteers and do not get paid so the funds go directly towards protecting our recreational fishing interests.

Hey Mike - if you limit the pool to Gentlemen, there may be no entries :p I'm in and will donate my winnings to RFA !!

Re: RFA-NJ 6th Annual Flukathon

We typically run a "standard" boat pool for $10.00 handled by the mates and winner is heaviest fluke and takes all the $$ but I am wide open to extra or different pool ideas.

How about a side pool for $5.00 PP for first fish at 20" or better? If everyone gets in it would be $175 to $200 to da winner.

Of course if said winner wants to kick a portion back to RFA-NJ there wouldn't be any objections:cool:

Re: RFA-NJ 6th Annual Flukathon

That sounds like a great idea. How about a booby prize for the largest Ray or Skate? I can bring some DD just let me know. Anybody doing an odds of winning schedule? We have been practicing but the fishing on LBI has been shut down due to the south wind or maybe the sonic testing. Can't wait till Sunday. Jeff, Sr. :):)

I use the term loosely here....:D...per the text Dave, this will work if everyone wants to get in to it...

Hmmmm wishful thinking.... Anything over 20 inches besides the after party bar tab would is pretty low odds on these trips :)

Maybe we should make it the first thing caught that swims :p

Re: RFA-NJ 6th Annual Flukathon

Some Updates:
(weather now a tad of an issue) but its a Fluke trip so lets not worry about that.
Most likely will be fishing Shrewsbury Rocks / rattlesnake area unless Capt finds anything better over the next few days. Also Plan B may be a deepwater drop (Ling , Flounder, seabass ) Boat will have some clams on board that's really if things go bad but bring gear accordingly and I would recommend some heavier sinkers and some meat (whole squid, smelts, ) etc for Fluke in case jigging isn't the thing.

Raffles:
This year raffle and 50/50 tickets will be $20.00 an arm length but new is buy 2 and get a third length FREE.

Current Raffle Prizes include:
- Penn Rod / Reel Combo Fluke set-up from Scottys Bait and Tackle
- Fish Poison Kevin Bogan Custom Rod
- Plano Tackle Box with Assorted Spros, teasers and Gulp from Dave @ The Reel Seat
- Tackle Box with dual trays from Jigging World
- Assorted Sharkbytes Bucktails / Teasers from Mike Reynolds SharkByte Rigs
- (3) $25.00 gift certificates from Tonys Bait and Tackle
- Open Boat Trip with Capt Chad on Tagged Fish
- Open Boat Trip with Capt Kris on Fishstix
- Open Boat trip with Capt Kevin on Fish Tank
- Assorted New tackle from Larry M
- RFA Hats Tees etc and of course a de-hooker or two
- Henry Landau Tees.

Boat Pool will be $10.00 for heaviest Fluke or Seabass
Additional $ 5.00 pool for first fluke 20" or better boated. In case of a time tie, (yeah sure) longer fish wins.

As always Raffles/ Pools are OPTIONAL but encouraged. Remember you cash winners this is a fundraiser!

Anyone who hasn't paid yet its CASH at the boat and there are still a few spots if anyone last minute wants in although sandwiches cant be guaranteed for newcomers unless you get on by tomorrow noon.

Trip shaping up nicely again and Thanks to YOU and our Sponsers for their generous donations. Help these guys out whenever you can. We all buy lots of stuff so use our sponsers.

Re: RFA-NJ 6th Annual Flukathon

Dave, whaaaaat? It's only gusts to 20!...that means 2 plus all day according to NOAA...Plenty of drifting going on....there will be some jigging supplies available at the dock if needed....Don't forget my shirt....lol

Hey Richie!!

I will bring enough ice to keep the beer cold not sure what Dave and Fran have planned for other stuff but you might check in with Dave.

As far as Fran putting keepers in people's coolers, you must be talking Sea Robins :D

Re: RFA-NJ 6th Annual Flukathon

Well it was another fun RFA trip. Nice to see all the regulars again today. Quite a bit of rocking and rolling, lots of rigs and bucktails lost, but we stuck it out and caught a few. Larry's son took the $5 pool for first fish over 20". It also held up for a tie in the big fish pool. My brother took the other half of the pool and the 50/50. Larry's son also won three times in the raffle. Quite a day, lots of ball busting, hooting and hollering.

A big thank you to Dave and Fran for putting together another great trip!

Thank you Fran and Dave for putting together another fun filled trip. Conditions were not ideal.and the bottom was VERY nasty. Capt tried to get us on the fish , but it just wasn't meant to be. A few keeper fluke and seabass and enough shorts to keep it interesting. Mates were right on the spot and were very helpful. Don't give up Dave, we need more trips. Nice clean boat and fresh bait. I even managed to catch a few shorts

Thank you Dave and Fran. Another great job coordinating the trip, getting the donations for prizes and putting the food together. It truly is appreciated by those who go. One of these years we're really going to be in the fish. But until then....great job!

Thanks Fran and Dave for a great trip once again. Fishing could have been better but that's why it's called fishing and not catching. I did manage an 18 incher so we have a snack for tonight. Still feel the rock and roll. Hope to everyone again soon. :) Jeff

Another RFA Fluke-a-thon is in the books. Sub-par fishing with world class ball busting and camraderie is the norm. GReat job, as always, DAve & Fran for putting this together again. Thanks to our sponsors, nearly everyone on board came home with some form of raffle winnings. Hartattack jr. (Angina) lost so many rigs my tackle bag weighed 50% less on the way home
