Gave it a shot before the rain this morning. Didn't hook up with anything fishing low and slow. Water was slowly rising where I was. WHERE THE SMALLIES AT??????

Just to be clear, I in no way expect this fish to be counted as an entry.
No lighter and no tap measure in the picture as the rules state.
But the bar has been set by a hack.
Let's see how all you profishional guys do.

After an intense forensic inspection this fish is 21''.
Tip: don't take a picture with the subject half in the sun and half in the shade.;)

p.s. theres a prize with ur name on it for the first good smallie ....no tape or lighter but still the first to strike:D

you shouldn't need a forensic inspection to read the pictures... the problem is that the pictures that NJFishing allows as attachments are way too small for the purposes of this contest

a modern camera or phone would never take a picture that small, so you should upload the original to photobucket, google+, your facebook, or another photo sharing site that will let you post it here larger. to be fair, every inch of that ruler ought to be legible, and you can't read any of the marks on that ruler that are in the sun.

Awsome idea for a contest.

My only question is when measuring the fish…Mouth open or closed? As most of us know it is very easy to make a fish longer by opening its mouth, which is why all pro bass tourneys and all NJ fishery regulations are measured with mouth closed?

I don't really care one way or another, but I just think getting everyone on the same page would be a good idea.

X2 - The pics need to be larger and the ruler markings fully legible in order to count. Also agree that the state regs for how the mouth and tail are held during measurement should be followed.

All really gr8 points here guys....Just remember this is a fun tourney with prizes donated by fellow nj.com fisherman.....Every option and/or discrepency will be discussed....There are NO cash prizes, lets remember that....If you are a REALLY good cheater , you may win:D However i don't forsee ppl cheating fer a hoodie...

If the mouth open problem bothers the key coordinaters or donaters it may be disqualified....Its only 8 days into a 7 month tourney, there will be alot more entries....Have fun with it and pls limit the amount of time the fish are out of the water and posing for pics....Fish was outta water maybe ten seconds....wouldn't close his mouth....it is what it is....Have fun and go git em guys;)

Best I could get it. The zoomed pic shows nicely on my phone which can be seen at the meet n greet at the end in November. Try to take pics with the mouth shut. If for some reason it does not happen because your trying to get a big fish back in the water and he doesn't cooperate enter the pic anyway it will count.

How do I know that tape measure isnt a rubber band? haha....
Solid 21" on the board! This contest could very likely come down to 1/16's of an inch so try to get the best pic you can of that measurement...
Also, it's a top 3 prize pool so don't overlook getting your dink on the board to set the bar!

Speaking with some other members of the board, we find it too easy to question pictures of just fish against a measure with a lighter in the picture. What we suggest is changing the rules to require 2 pictures... 1 with the fish against a measure with a lighter in the picture and a second picture of the angler holding the fish. We feel this will validate both the size of the fish and the validity of connecting it not only to the angler, but also the appropriate season, background, etc. Let's do this....

Speaking with the people that put this together were going to leave the rules as we originally set them..we welcome your entries and understand your apprehensions..you dont have to participate in the contest if you do not wish to. By all means post ur reports though we all look forward to seeing them...catch em up buuuddy

Uglystick, thats a gr8 suggestion....Unfortunately not everyone needs company while fishing....Lots of guys fish alone for one reason or another....We cant simply penelize entries because an angler is alone...If you happen to be with somebody and get pictures holding the fish , thats gr8...if not, still good...This is a FUN contest, if you disagree , dont enter....

Got out this morning for half a day. Here's the best I could do fishing off land. Fish went 19 inches. Totally different ball game when your out there alone trying to take multiple pics of an entry fish. I did the best I could. Boy, the fish were hungry today. YEA BUDDY!!!

DAMN, LOL, I forgot the lighter, OOPS!!!! It happens!!!!

Don't forget that these prizes are donated by njfishing.com members....So there is no limit as to how many prizes there mite be....As ppl donate prizes they will be listed...I have a few ideas for prizes that i plan on donating....Not saying if they are gonna be big or small prizes, gotta see what the participation is gonna be like before i post these donations:D

Before the rains , i saw some hefty fish come outta the delaware on live bait...

Here's my first entry for the contest. 16" smallie that smashed a jerkbait. Quick measure and off she went. Like I said before, would only be good for third, and the season is still young, but that third place prize sounds tasty!! :D
