Guys some beautiful LL's and pretty bow! They look like Atlantics I've seen taken from Lake Ontario, are LL's and Atlantics the same? Good job, you're both starting the year the way you left off last year.

i'm pretty sure yes they are the same species, but when they can't migrate into river systems i guess they don't get as big maybe.

Way to go guy's, some nice fish for sure. To bad I'm not into trolling, I have done it, but just something about it. Anyway, thanks for posting.

Chris great LL I guess you answered the question I was asking myself. Way to go how many jumps, I've hooked some that jumped all over the place and others that just came right in. Great Fish

Unfortunately i had it out on lead-core line to get the depth needed and you can't feel much of the fight (unless it's a really huge fish) until you get the lead-core line on the spool. Once that line was on the spool though the last 40-50ft of fight was pretty good. no jumps though, just tried to bulldog me. we were hoping to catch them on the surface with ultralights but it wasn't meant to be and we had to get the lures deeper.

Chrisper pretty much answered this for you, I'll just add that they are indeed the same species. The full name of 'Landlocks' is 'landlocked atlantic salmon'. As Chrisper said the landlocks are just that, restricted from migration, specifically to the Atlantic ocean for which they're named since they are the only salmon species native to the Atlantic, unlike the Pacific ocean which has a number of different salmon species indigenous to it.

That aside, damn fine job catching what is arguably one of the hardest fighting fish in freshwater!
