Believe it or not I didn't find a single tick! It seems like whenever I am careful to avoid ticks by staying on a hiking path I get home covered with ticks but when I plunge recklessly into thick growth or tall grass the ticks leave me alone.

I am in the woods along the Rahway River almost daily either fishing or walking my dog and so far I haven't had a single tick (neither has my dog). The only tick that has found me this year got me when I was hiking at Hither Hills park in Montauk. The ticks are unbelievable out there (second only to CT in my opinion).

That is always my go to spot on any lake, especially if it has rained recently and there is a good flow. Cast to the edges of the flow and also drop a few right into it.
