Re: Hows Cutting Holes This Weekend
Honestly this half and half purgatory is pissing me off limiting the fishable areas of lakes. Either freeze it all or leave it all open. Damn you Mother Nature!

Re: Hows Cutting Holes This Weekend
I'm with you on that one Chris but I'm leaning more towards leave it open and don't drain them so I can put my boat in lol

Re: Hows Cutting Holes This Weekend
It's f-ing cold out on the ice right now. It's going to be even colder this weekend and it's going to be windy. I'll let the weekend warriors have the ice all to themselves this weekend. 0 degrees and 15-25 winds isn't good for me or the fish, they'll flash freeze in those temps unless you have a shanty. For those of you who are going out this weekend bring a spud bar. The wind died down this morning and the place I'm fishing skimmed over but there is still open water. Even though it's cold there is still a lot of sketchy ice because it's been a warm winter.

leaving the bigger stuff alone.i will be on the small lakes that never opened up
and have been making ice the few nights. |
Re: Hows Cutting Holes This Weekend
I'm still seeing open water on some of the lakes in West Milford/Kinnelon area, but I also saw people on the lakes, even those with open water.
By this weekend I think a lot of the open water will be iced over, but be really careful wherever you go. A lot of the ice will be new and thin. I'll probably skip this weekend because I'm a fair weather ice angler and windy, single digit temps are not fun for me, but early next week when it warms a bit I will certainly be on the hard water. |

Re: Hows Cutting Holes This Weekend
Yea. It was COLD. No shanty. Had to stay moving to fend off the chill.
