Re: Holdover trout in lakes/res

Hope we haven't scared u off trying to fish for trout in lakes this year birdman..Some of us painted a bleak picture on trout fishing our NJ lakes..Hold over trout are tough to come by no matter where u fish..But u mention early spring..The state does a great job of stocking. So one last suggestion I would make is get a couple of lite action rods preferrably 71/2 to 8 foot in length, lite line 4 to 8 lb max..Now this next suggestion I haven't heard any one make..But from a slow moving boat using long lines, I'd reccomend spending about 50 bucks ea for 2 Okuma bait runner reels..Beats anything I've tried for bait fishing and I go back a long ways, pre strike guard days..Reels can be used for just about anything else when casting is the order of the day..Newly stocked trout will be your quarry..Any of the trout lakes mentioned in NJ's stocking list should get ur attention..Then maybe hit Round valley Reservoir..BTW question for u Round valley guys what do u consider being a good days catch on RV these days..I quit fishing there early 1970's Reservoirs in NY state much better at that time..Just curious what u fellows consider the best bar none..
