Re: Jig Size
I like to use white with white gulp. 2 oz on bottom with a 1/2 oz teaser

Re: Jig Size
In the rivers I use 3/4-1 ounce.
For bay and inshore I'll use anywhere from 1-4 ounces-depending upon water depth & strengthen of the tide/current. For the channels and ocean 4-8 ounces again depending upon water depth & strengthen of the tide/current. Last few seasons my go to color as been white...with both glow & chartreuse a distant second/third. |

This is also important for dragging bait too. I've seen times fishing deep with a moving tide where you couldn't hold bottom unless you were fishing 10 plus ounce weights with mono and if you were fishing braid you could get away with 6 ounces. |
Re: Jig Size
I always use braid and rarely less than 6 ounces. I routinely crush these fish and typically outfish everyone who comes with me because they wont convert to bucktailing despite my solid results. Stubborn people I surround myself with lol. I honestly have no idea how anyone can bucktail with a 3 oz or less jig. More times than not I am using a calcutta 400 reel and light graphite rod and by the time I reach the bottom that line will be 200 yards out. Granted I typically fish the sticky in 50 to 80 feet and the power pro is most likely in the 40 to 50 lb test range. Would dropping to 20 lb really make that much of a difference?
