Re: New Toy! Couple Questions.........

Thanks again for the input. Motor was free so I won't care if it doesn't run. I'll spend the money for the tank and all and if it doesn't work out, at least ill have the tank for when I get a better motor. Worst thing would be gettin out there and having die on me. But, that's what oars are for, lol.......

Build a stand, gravity feed gas from a bottle above the motor before you spend useless cash on a gas tank that you may not use.
Basic maintenance and it will run and keep running. It may not ne the most reliable motor around but it will get the job done.

dont put a dollar into it until u inspect it. If ur unsure of what to do u can run it to me and Ill get it runnin for ya. what I would do is pull the plug and if its not clean either clean it and wire brush it a little or grab a new one its 5 bucks. Pull the 2 hose clamps holding the carb in and soak it in brake fluid or carb cleaner and inspect the floats/jets. If that is all good she will start up and just borrow a fuel can or use a can u have and just gravity feed it to see if it starts, it will suck fuel on its own, a primer bulb helps. I have a 6hp 4stroke merc thats like 10yrs old I bought for 100 that they couldnt get running. I got less than 50 into it and it runs like a champ, the jets were bad and clogged, ethanol kills anything w carbs
