To answer your original question: I've fished every AH boat that blackfishes and found they will all put you on good bottom so it comes down to personal preferences,Captain, mates, etc. That being said larger fish come from the waters further south and Mimi and NormaK are top notch.

If you are looking for a good blackfish boat in the AH area you have two choices. The Angler - George is as good as they come and the EB-II in the Highlands.

As far as other boats - Kenny on the Mimi works his *ss off to get you some nice Blackfish and its a smaller boat that can get on smaller pieces. The Ocean Explorer is a great boat as well if you are looking for weekends but it will get crowded.

The Big Mohawk is also a great boat that will put you on the fish. I have been on all of these boats and have done well on all of them.

I cant wait!!!

Hey Dennis, long time brother, hope to see you on November! His original post was geared towards boats in the Atlantic highlands/Highlands area, but as it appears we all have had different experiences on different boats along the coast and we all recommend where we've done our best. Like stated earlier, it all depend on personal preference; all the boats mentioned are great boats with great captains and crews and I don't think anyone would argue that point, but if he's partial to the Sandy Hook area, I don't think he'll have a problem finding what suits him.

Totally agree.

Angler, Big Mohwak, Mimi are my go-to boat for togs.

I know you said party boat, but keep a watch for any openings on the Tagged Fish out of the Highlands. For about the price of a party boat, you can jump on a six pack. Chad knows Blackfish and will help you get your limit.

There are many "bottom fishing" captains but only a handful of true "Blackfish Captains". Explore them all and the cream will rise to the top.

So i guess the big recommendation is to take the extra ride further south to Belmar? Is there really a big difference from Highlands to Belmar?
