Glad your crew made the best of it and are home safe. Sucks dumping and getting wet. I'd be scared shit heading down some of those rapids in those sit on top yaks. My adrenaline is pumping in my 18' canoe loaded with gear.
I'm sure your planning the next trip already....and leaving the good camera home:D Late Spring and fall are great times to go and ditch all the rentals. I got a few one and two overnight trip routes you can try. LMK Lighten the loads, dry bag and bungee all your gear. Ditch a few tents and share some space. Traveling light is key. I'm sure your crew overpacked and were heavy since you didn't know what to expect. Those rapids can make quick work of anyone. Rain is the #1 factor to look at when overnighting on the river. As you know now it rises incredibly fast, gets hairy and takes a good few days for that water to drop and clean up. Otherwise, this river is a gem right in our backyard with some great fishing when conditions are right! See ya on the river... |
