Have yet to use it. It seems smooth with minimum tension on it. I changed the old mono line to 50 lb PP and a 40 lb mono topshot.
Question for you guys...it was mounted on an 8 foot Jarvis Walker ( a Penn Co. ) MH rod, rated for 3/4--3oz lures.
Have never used more than a 7 footer on PB's, 6-packs, or my own boat.

Can I use that outfit on the Papa's Angels or similar boats next month for stripers ?? I can't wait to get out again.

Tight lines all.

Tom of course you can use it with us.. I would say to bring your other rod as well seeing as how you have never used the Jarvis before.. You might not like the feel or you might fall in love.. never know.. Whats nice about the 8 foot is you can really cast that line out there good.. Alot of people like the bigger rod

Other thing i wanted to ask was.. What size.. the 4500 or bigger.. I will be using it mostly on the boat.. Im not a fan of a huge reel but maybe not the smallest one but one in the middle..

Re: Baitrunner Spinning Reel Questions

The 4500 seems more than adequate for Sandy Hook and Raritan Bay boat work for me Jeff, but I'm no expert and have never used it.
The one I have in front of me says line capacity,14--295, 17--250, 20--195.

I put 150 Yds 50lb PP on mine and I'm not sure how much mono backing.
Mine is a model 4500 B if that makes any difference.
I'm sure there are some guys on here who have experience with them.

Look forward to fishing with you & Capt Joe again.

Tom.

Check out the Shiimano Thunnus baitrunner. It is far superior to the standard baitrunner. I sell more of these than anyother baitrunner on the market. Stay away from Okuma Avengers as they are a one season reel.

Also avoid the new Penn Spinfishers. Something is not right with the bail closure system on these reels. It would not surprise me if they are all recalled.
