Few things...

2lb Trilene XT - world of difference between that and the XL.

Also the 4lb magna thin has the same diameter as 2lb if I am correct and havent had a pig snap that yet...

I use the 2lb XT - pops uses the 4lb magna thin..

I catch the same amount of fish than when I use to use the 2lb Trilene XL

Also back in the day you didnt have these slobs in there - you could handle a 4 - 5 pd fish on em.

Some of those rainbows have been weighed over 11lbs so 10 doesnt suprise me...

There are nasty fish... on those small rods.. tons of fun..

I always tie 9 wraps with the 2# teast. A knot is all about friction. the more turns, the more friction and less likely to slip.

I will try the XT or the magna, I gotta try something, once a year I lose a PIG!

I fought the fish for at least 25 minutes, even thou I didn't land it, I got to see it and got all the fight out of it. Will never forget loosing that one!

I used to use 1 and 2 lb trilene. The key word is used to. I now use stren 2lb and have caught many 10lb plus stealhead and my personal best 17lb stealhead all on 2 lb sten. I know someone will say that they are the same but I am not lying. It is my persoanl experience . Use what you want but I will continue to use 2lb stren!!!

It's funny... you never forget those fish.

I have two that I would like to have back.. and they didnt even snap the knot

They snapped the line in middle somewhere...

Both pigs when they hit, jumped clear out of the water and in there jump snapped the line somewhere.

I can still hear the snap in my head as I write this... whyyyyy :D

Steve, friction is a knots worst enemy. If the knot is moistened then tightened properly it will not slip. Its the slippage that causes friction and the friction causes heat which weakens then breaks the knot.

Mickrazz is 100% correct and why even bother with 2lb test-4lbXL all the way.

You and I agree:cool:
I did the 2 pound thing a few years ago.
A snagged 1/2 lb. stick would break my line before I landed it.
I remember commenting on the Shrimpmans woes a couple of years ago about the exact same issue.
If you are a CPR guy, 2 lb. just tires out the fish too much.
You also need a foo foo reel with a bullet proof drag.
4 lb. XL all the way
