After reading your past post and the great bottom fishing that you have in NC I feel like jumping into my car and heading south to get into those seabass. Offshore seabass trips out of NJ was one of my favorite things to do over the winter. I use to bring my dad on some of those trips as that is one of his favorite fish to catch. Heading down to MD to tog fish for 2 days on 4/2 and 4/3. Maybe I should extend my trip and head further south to mix it up with some nice seabass MVP |

They are fishing the same rock piles all the charter and party boats fish. They are right offshore and kilsong used to make about a trip or two a week out there jigging the snot out of them.. If they open it up soon it would be a good shot, another month or so those fish should be heading inshore a little and then right off the beach in a few months! |
Re: Seabass
I use to do those trips all the time with both Kil Song and Mike Jung from Peace Token. End of November we would head out with Jeff on the voyager. In december I would head out with the Voyager and the Jamacia. Once January and Febuary came around I would head south out of Wildwood Crest and would jig them at the Baltimore Rocks. I miss those days. Once June comes around I will be heading out with fellow member Fishguts to target inshore seabass out of Barnegat. With very little pressure this winter the inshore bite is going to be insane with great #'s and better quality.

Re: Seabass
I heard this during the summer. I knew for a long time they had a winter offshore seabass fishery but on rockpiles with jigs instead of wrecks with bait. I was thinking maybe the real jumbos stay on the offshore wrecks. Anyway, when is this year's seabass season:confused: . Isn't it June and September.
