One problem I've had there is the wind. Unless it's fairly calm, its nearly impossible to keep something light like a Binsky on the bottom. I've had to go with heavier jigs such as Spro bucktails to have a chance to keep it down. Last winter I picked up a drift sock with the idea of slowing down my drift when jigging but I didn't get to use it this year.

Or use spot lock on your electric motor...

I spot lock manually haha constantly micro adjusting to react to the marks accordingly, tough with a big boat though.

Yep he controls that tin can perfectly out there and you think your going to sink to the bottom with every move you make. But he can sure stay on them and it makes a huge difference.

This is the allure of the tin can!

Your gambling with your life but you will catch fish.

Hmmmmmmm! I suggest going out to one of the Great Lakes! Catch a 20-30 pounder from the shoreline out there and you’ll quickly realize that Lake Trout fishing in NJ these days just isn’t worth the effort. Hahaha!!! Da truth!

nah, I live here, its not that easy.. For every 20 pounder, there are 10,000 3 -4 pounders...

I see the pics and videos from RV, and thats a nice fishery.. a reasonably sized lake you can take a small aluminum boat on year round.. Up here, most of the year you are trying to hold a bigger boat steady in 30 mph wind in raging whitecaps, while jigging... The charters stop running at the end of Sept, that should tell you something... bob

btw, I have turned a couple of NJF members on to the deep jigging blade baits I use up here, that are heavier and much more diverse in color than what the NJ guys use, and a LOT cheaper... Its a nationally known big box outfit that I am NOT "shilling" for, just to be clear.. Just trying to let my online deep jigging friends in on a better suited, better priced set up for what they are trying to accomplish...
PM me if interested in the lures I use up here on the Finger lakes...

there ain't no world class fw fishing here in nj, we all know that, but in the dog days of summer, there isn't anything more fun than jigging for lakers... i've fished for pretty much everything this state has to offer and those lakers are a blast

Yes there certainly is! Nj packs a punch considering the size of our little
state. Just wait until those Lakers start feeding on the recently stocked landlocked Salmon. One might finally hit 30 inches!!! Like for real! Lol! MC, RV, SR all have good fish and at the same time are all going downhill. I speak from the heart and past experience.......... been there done that!
