Hit 4 spots last nite between the river and the canal. Managed a 23" at my first spot. Took a ride to another area and went run and gun. Nada on the river. Spotted some in the canal but takers. Back on the road... Last spot. Popped 2 more eyes in the canal. Small but action nonetheless! 16 and 18". Crazy part was at my last stop where I had a 30-32" muskie grab my lure right in the brightness of my head lamp...twice! Never hooked it. Just held on tight until it shook free right at the bank. Pretty cool. Here's the 23" eye...

I haven't been fishing the areas long enough to really answer that accurately. My efforts are such a small data set so a response would be merely subjective. I've also been out a lot more this yr as my youngest is now 2.5 which makes things a bit easier for me.
I have caught more this year, though, at a multitude of spots. I think the rain plays a significant role. We had a wet late spring. Water levels were higher. Fish moved. Perhaps more came into the canal and made their way north? I put a lot of time in. I pay attention to many details and I'm pretty relentless. I don't stop casting lol. The average angler soaking bait a few times a week or casually tossing artificial in the same areas I'm fishing isn't going to catch consistently. I've had many skunked nights, too.
It'll be a banner year when I slug a 30" walleye. For now, it's just been consistent lol...
