Took the wife out on Labor Day Monday for a summer farewell boat ride around the lake and was hoping to sneak in a few casts. I hadn't been out fishing in 3 weeks!
The conditions were "ideal"
Post frontal
Blue bird skies
WSW wind 10-15 mph.
Water temps ~68
oh and a full moon!
With all the boat traffic I had to hide from the washing machine in areas that typically do not produce.
Every check box filled for a skunking :mad:
Caught a 17" early on a t-rigged black creature bait. I have caught this fish in the same spot before. She has unique spots on her tail (non photo side of course).

Spent the next couple of hours fishing the shoreline around anchored boats partying it up with nothing to show for it.
Around 5 pm the wife wanted to go in for dinner. Reluctantly I said ok give me 10 more casts.
On the 4th cast I get a hit. The fish charges right at the boat and then surfaces. My eyes pop out of my head and I scream at the wife to grab the net! The wife makes a couple of ill advised swipes at the fish as it was going away from the boat. I had visions of her knocking it off the hook. A couple of more rounds and got the fish pointed in the right direction and into the net.
My NEW PB! at 5.8 lbs 21.5". Beat my old Pb from years ago in RI by 13oz. Man was I psyched! I think i might have let out a couple of f#*% yeahs.
Couple of quick pics and off she went. What a great way to usher in fall.
