Greetings folks. Figured I'd let my old fishing friends know we are bracing for a biggie. We have decided to ride it out. We are just southwest of Daytona. Could use some positive energy from my old friends.
I miss you all

Get out of dodge! You're right in the crosshairs! I would drive North until I stopped seeing palm trees. You may be in a different position, but with a five year old I would never take that risk. If you stay I wish you the best.

Steve, you stay safe. I'm on west coast, Bonita springs.
shutters on windows, gas for generator, food, water. Until we get the order to evacuate, we are staying put.
Can't get anywhere from here. Gas stations are out of gas, so your one tank of fuel is what you'd have to expect to only have at this point. Driving north is next to impossible, hotels are full all the way to Pensacola plus beyond, roads are clogged, gas doesn't exist on the roads.

Best of luck Shrimpy... As you know my daughter and son in law are in Port St Lucie... They are inland a bit and have decided to ride it out too.
Thinking of you all and on pins and needles here watching the news...
Be safe and keep in touch...
PS hope you have the dirty shrimp someplace safe as it could come in handy once the storm passes.

We are back home, as of yesterday. Spent the storm in Germain arena shelter. Holly sh.t what a storm. The eye did pass over us as a 2.
Spent yesterday opening the home back up, shutters off and airing out. No major water damage. Slight bit of water in the garage, and that had pulled back by the time we got home. Guessing an inch, maybe. Wasn't much. Freezer was still solid, frig's were still relatively cold yesterday. Today they all get a boost of power to bring them back up to cold. Ceiling fans are running fine, no AC, generator is too small to run that. Have enough gas to run 3 more days give and take. Don't run 24/7. Just daylight hours. Sun is out, windows open and a slight breeze. It's really nice out.
Today we are running the generator, have running water and sewer. Garage is open and airing out. We lost nothing in way of items. Home itself was an island we came home to. Today it is going down. Road is flooded but I'm able to get out with the excursion.
We are so happy we went to a shelter. Don't know the history of the home we rent. That's the 2nd time we've had this much water up to the home in 3 weeks. We are so out of this place come April when the lease is up. Time to find higher ground or at least dryer place. We can't do this to ourselves on purpose next year.
What a life experience.
Thanks Steve and to all others.

Glad everyone made out ok.
My in laws from Naples came up to NJ. They are itching to get home. I know some areas were hit bad and other parts not so much or at all.
Problem is they are 75 years old and have no contacts there to get real time info from. Power I assume is still out as I try to call the complex and it's either busy or goes straight to a voice mail.
Call the town of Naples and they say they don't know but don't expect power until the 22 nd.
Anyone here from Naples?
They are on Vanderbuilt beach road in the Islandwalk complex if anyone can pass by
Thx.

Dave. The area is getting power back more each day. The traffic lights from well north of Bonita beach road to at least Immoklee are working today. I haven't been much further south yet. Gas stations are opening and the lines around me are 5-10 minutes. Its reg gas only.
Your in laws will know the area of the Dunes complex towers on Vanderbilt and just north of 111th they are full power. The 711 at 108th is open with gas. Sams on airport pulling is open for gas. Not sure about the store itself. Walmarts are opening up with limited produce and meats.
The FPL response has been by the 22nd. We are off old 41 at the PO in Bonita springs and we are one day from power. They did turn it on but something popped in the area today.
Restaurants are beginning to open.
Cell service and internet are very spotty at times.
There is a lot of clean up yet to happen. Lots of greenery is destroyed. Damage to property and homes.

Dave, your welcome. Safe trip to them making their way home.
It's been quite a life experience as well as experienced shelter life for couple days. We did very well. One area rug was lost due to water seepage from floor at slab. Home was an island. It could have been so much worse with water damage. We got lucky as heck. This is twice in two weeks the home has had water right up to it. We rent, yes. So we'll be moving once lease is up. Won't be leaving ourselves in a place that we know has issues.

Sometimes the high NJ taxes and two foot snow storms get to me but living thru tropical storms and hurricanes is not my cup of tea.
I guess it's all relevant

Steve, no power here yet either. It's Monday 18th, we are being told the 21st.
Running the generator now 24hrs. Bought a small AC window unit to cool off bedroom. 5000BTU sized.
Add to that my wife and I are both sick. Cold, bronchitis and ear infections. Oh fun fun fun.
