These parts of the Raritan, North Branch and such, have been very giving to me. Unlike the main stem has been mixed in results; typically bigger fish bit less action.

So good I got my not-so-skillful-angler friend to finally get his first bass, a smallie. Then his next fish is his first largie.

I should have taken more pics from that day, I'll tell yea that section of the north branch was full of bass that size. It was a hike to hit the good spots but worth it.

Today I hit my usual spot, gotta tend to my smallies and see if they're healthy. I'd say the youngsters are growing fast! Rock bass are less common for some reason, caught only two today while earlier in season I'd get more rockies than smallies. Finally got a largie at the last spot I hit.

Here's the pics. Found this big ol frog before I even wet a line.

The smaller the river, the easier it seems to get quantity out of it.

Lures used: started with mini floating rapala, hooks were going everywhere on fish so turned to marabou jigs.

Take pictures with my phone, my phone has some neat feat where if I just twist my wrist twice it opens camera up, so it's all one handed.

Pictures come out huge like 2000x4000 pixels, so I downsize them all manually.

I post them on imgur and use the Link Image tool on top (not attach picture tool) with the links imgur processes.

We are moving to the Hills in Bedminster next week. I was wondering if you ever get up that far or is the river too small there?

Here's an update. Not much fishing lately other than a pond by college.

Nothing special. Ive been exploring more sections above the lamington confluence on the NB. Good fly practice!

I saw some holdover rainbow trout around the section downstream of the peapack brook confluence.

Big fallfish thought I had a trout hooked up! He nailed a rapala harder than a smallie!

I hate to admit this chub tricked me just like that fallfish did

There are a few very deep spots around here. Ill have to hit them right next time.

Thanks. Two days worth from my latest post. Exploring new waters so any fish is a good result I suppose. Im ready for this stretch to be dumped with fall trout ;)
