Walked the river banks in Piscataway at Johnson Park and loaded up. Saw at least 30 or so slightly dissolved into a gooey glob, dismantled one shrine.
Went back to Robert St. with the snorkel mask and double checked the other car in the river and the industrial sized lawnmower, won't be pulled out till after labor Day according to Somerset County Parks Dept.
Water is nice and clean, baitfish everywhere.

Suma Foods, North Brunswick holds a responsible / legal event @ Johnson Park where the statues are immersed & then recycled: http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07ed8nkah60364e87a&llr=n4i5p8dab

However, as with everything, there are some people who are not responsible, don’t abide by regulations & probably don't want to pay $.

According to the internet....

The Hindu festival, Ganesh Chaturthi, marks the birth of Lord Ganesha. Being celebrated in almost all parts of India, this year the auspicious occasion is falling on 25th August, 2017. Every year, Ganesh Chaurthi is celebrated for 10 days with great devotion and enthusiasm.

On the first day, people invite Lord Ganesha by bringing the Ganesha's idol at their home. Maintaining the piousness, they worship for 10 days and on the last day, the idol is taken out in a joyous way and submerge the idol in a large water body.

Better schedule another clean up for next week!
