I haven't gotten out to fish as much as I'd like to, as I've recently started my first real job out of college. Atleast the time I've had has been pretty productive.
I decided to change things up this summer and have been almost exclusively fly fishing with self tied flies and fishing top water. Pike on top water is absolutely insane.
Visited my friends "lake house" on a creek in upstate NY. Managed to catch a bunch of smallies this size.

Fly fishing has led to some interesting catches... Fat brown bullhead on a popper, golden shiners and other panfish, and some decent bass.

I've been hitting the river from kayak and shore. Got into a few decent schools of crappie and some nice pike.
I'm not really a fan of blurring the pictures, but there were some landmarks in the back so I didn't have much of a choice sorry ;)
I'm pretty sure that I've caught the third pike before, as I caught a pike missing the same front fin in the same area of the river last year. I need to go back and see if I've still got the old picture.

killer catching!! I'd also be interested to know the flies you're using. Also, any chance you were fly fishing the lamington this morning? If so, I was the one pullin panfish from the bridge! :D

Thanks guys! Glad you like the variety of fish pics :)
I wish I was on the Lamington, but I was at work this morning haha.
As far as flies go, I've mostly been tying plain black foam poppers with bucktail tails, black and brown woolly buggers, baitfish imitations, and different color pike bunnies.
Fishing popper dropper rigs is my personal favorite. If anyone's interested I can send them pictures of the actual flies. I started out following the actual tying recipes, but now I've started making my own patterns which is pretty cool.

Haha the guy I saw looked like you a lot! I stopped for a quick 45 minutes before work, tons of redbreasts snackin on my trout magnet.
Thanks for the info on the flies! I've never fly fished before but I think I want to start soon, just need to save up money for equipment.....:o:(

Oh weird! I've been told by others that they've seen someone who looks like me around. Maybe I have a fishing doppelganger haha! That sounds like a lot of fun! Yeah fly stuff can get expensive, but it doesn't have to be I haven't spent too much and have a decent set up.
