I've hit the river a bunch of times in the past couple of weeks, mostly after work. The pike have been hungry and aggressive. During one of my evening sessions, I ran into the man, the myth, the legend himself...Fast Eddie. Great to fish with ya man.

Here are a few pics...

After seeing dozens and dozens of pike photos posted on this forum, I think it's safe to say that the NJF&W's stocking of the Passaic has been a resounding success. Too bad that the pike haven't flourished in the Millstone in the same way.

Isnt because of the numbers of pike in the passiac vs the millstone? Going of this: http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/fish_pike.htm The passiac gets a lot more stocked.

nice pike, glad to see such a nice comeback to that place. I remember catching smallies way back in the 90s by the old skibarn location. obviously some pike too . I can remember back in the 90s at some point the state said the stocked tiger muskie in the Passaic but I never saw one ??????

great fish guys. catch one for me. I gotta go to work and I fear tomorrow will be thunder storms and no fishing ugh!!!!

It's the Passaic's special chemical soup created by mixing the sewage discharge from dozens of water-treatment plants, lawn chemicals from suburban storm run-off, and toxic industrial waste that makes the pike strong.

The biggest reason the Passaic is so productive is that so many businesses that used it as a sewer are gone. The bad reputation always outlives the fact. I really have to wonder how bad that water can be when the river is so enormously productive. Pike of that size are not nearly as common in places of far greater reputation with prices to get there to match.

the Passaic has made a tremendous recovery. lots of forage. in some stretches ive caught smallies , largemouths, pike, trout, crappie, cats, carp. Ive noticed a drop off in the quality of the smallies size the last few years. ive thrown my boat in from Elmwood park all the way up to Lincoln park area but I must admit I haven't put my time in there recently and im sure things have changed . I started fishing it in the early 90s in the west Paterson section. once I moved to Wanaque I started fishing up that way more but I should get back to it. they catch striped bass in Lyndhurst
