Late report but been meaning to post it up.

Hit Spruce Run with the wife last Sat to see what was biting. On the water at 6:50 AM. First cast at 7...4th cast with a Zara spook off a rocky point over about 10 feet of water first fish in the boat. Decent LM about 2 lbs. Figure we are on to something. Spend the next 5 hours assuring ourselves that there are no other fish in the reservoir. Ugh! Tried everything in the supposedly likely places for mid summer water temps at 77 - 78 degrees good clarity as usual with Spruce all for nothing. Finally out of "I got no other ideas left desperation" I head back into a shallow cove and start casting plastic into 6" of water. Bam...nice 3lb fish on the trusty 5" yum dinger in green pumpkin...two casts later 5 feet from that fish I get fish number three. Nice fish and it was a jumper. Took the air 5 times in the short fun fight. Cool now we are really on to something...NOT! Not a tap the rest of the day...off the water at 3 PM. The wife didn't get anything so it was a good thing the wine cabinet was fully stocked at home! Tough day this time out. Pic of the last fish to prove it.

Nice fish. I was there the day after you and it was still a tough bite. I caught-and-released one decent bass and a couple of dinks.

That lake is always a tough place to fish. I blame the extreme fishing pressure and the abundant schools of herring in the water.

Agreed on the herring impact. I marked a lot of bait balls in the depths/places that (according to all the fishing magazines) those bass were supposed to be in. Couldn't find anyone eating them at the time though...or at least didn't get them to bite.

Lake looks great being full again.

HA...I had to pretend I wasn't really happy so my wife wouldn't kill me! She didn't catch anything and that is a dangerous place to be!
