While sitting pretty still in a small 12ft channel, all of a sudden my fish alarm starts sounding and from an otherwise blank screen, I started seeing this (see photo)
I dropped some jigs and other lures and bait. Nothing. It seemed so random. I wish there was an on- water class on how to read these things and what is REALLY registering on the screen.

I don't see a photo. I agree, I'd pay for an on the water training class. Lots of good videos on you tube. Hummingbird has some with underwater camera footage of what's on the screen.

Air bubbles or fish streaking away from the boat.

I agree with this one the most. I might as well be playing a missile command video game.
I know SOMETHING is down there causing this (in photo) as well as all of the other "STUFF" I see from time to time. It sure would be nice to know for certain what is being read.
I spent the day sea bass fishing on my friend's boat last week - fully equipped with the brand new SIMRAD 3D scan with touch screen. Man was that cool to play around with - but ultimately it was still a bunch of missiles or space invaders or asteroids - just in 3D! We were still playing the guessing game all day long.

Bluefin tuna. I've seen that before, on a TV show.

Looks like fish swimming away to me. If it was someone else's sonar it would be more rhythmic.

If installations are correct u should not have that type interference , if ur buddy's
boat is exibiting same , that's something I've never seen unless ur offshore & if I remember some squid exibit similar traces on screen I can't even say for sure .
Tuna are generally boomerang pattern & none in river at the moment !
I'm sure some electronics installer can answer ?
Some form of inference but same on both boats that weird !

I was the only boat in the area. The screen was blank, motor off, drifting for fluke. Jigs on the bottom already and away from the boat. Then the fish alarm and marks on the screen. Very strange.
I'm going to have to go with a school of bluefin tuna in the Shrewsbury River chasing squid in 10 ft of water.
As GREAT as this technology is, I still need a translator to make sense of it.

Attribute it to feedback issues then.
