Today we got to fish the annual Hi-Mar striped bass tournament. Had Steve, Paul, Ken and Scott on board. Loaded the wells and took a ride. Had instant life on the first drift going 3 for 5 with fish to 35# on the first drift. The life died immediately after. Set out the tgt spoons as we know we needed some larger fish. Pretty slow as we went 1 for 3 until the last hour when we found a body of fish and the we were able to go 5 for 8 on fish to 37#. Ended the day boating a total of 8 keeper bass all between 28-37#. Our combined weight of 76.1# was good enough for third place. Congrats to all the other winners.

Congrats Derek and crew!!
Congrats to Fisher price and everyone else who participated and those who made the board. Some impressive catches for sure
I fished once again with Team Eastwick and we continue are consistency of placing almost every year. This was my 4 th years fishing the spring tournament and we have made the board 3 out of four times. They have also won in in previous years that I was not fishing with them. Pretty impressive to consistently make the board. All kudos go to great Capt and friend Raul. When he is not chasing bad guys in Elizabeth he is catching fish. We got our bait early right in the harbor and headed out looking for a few decent fish
Got set up at are spot around 530 am and started drifting live bunker. Within an hour we got 2 nice bass that took the edge off as we looked to upgrade our 30 pounder. Weather turned to shit quickly and we moved closer to beach to try to get out of the wind. Must be nice to be a weatherman and only be right 65 % of the time
We continued to fish hard and tried chunking and about an hour and a half of trolling but no takers
We finally got the bite that most probably would have put us over the tip but it popped off
Got to the weigh in about 4 pm and at that point we were leading both the 2 fish total with 75.9 lbs and the big fish Calcutta with a 45 pounder that when I cut it had three flounder and a whole bunker in it. 47 inch fat girl
We felt pretty good about that total but it was not good enough to hold up Congrats to all the winners and to the Hi mar guys for doing all they do
