I headed up to a section of river in Hunterdon County this morning to do some more fly fishing. The water was clear in some spots and a little cloudy in others. Cold too. Like, I was shivering cold. Which is great for trout in June.

Anyway, I ended up landing a really nice sized trout. It leapt into the air three times which was cool and fought like crazy. Come to realize when I netted it, it was foul hooked right in the side. How that happened is beyond me. I wasn't using a tandem rig, it was just one nymph.

I tried to hold her up for a pic, but she slipped right out of my hands. You can check out the video if you're interested: https://youtu.be/1YksS2IAy8o

Nice video! As far as foul hooking goes, I've heard from some experienced fly fishermen it can happen if you don't set the hook in time. Trout can spit out a fly very quickly. Even the best fly anglers miss plenty of hooksets.
