Ortley Beach Surf

The Beach Replenishment project started on Memorial Day 2017. They are supposed to move north and then come back Nov/Dec to finish.

Not sure how it will impact surf fishing yet. I assume it will take some time to settle down.

Beach replenishment is good for 2 things. Property owners and beach goers. Other than that, it destroys local eco systems. Imagine tons of sand being dumped on local structures where they exist or all of the crabs, clams and sand fleas that are buried. Beach replenishment turns areas into lifeless desserts for a couple of years.

AMEN TO THAT!!! Used to go surf fishing almost every day since I live near the beach in Monmouth County... once they did the beach replenishment, the last couple years have been definitely like fishing the DEAD SEA!! :mad:

I get trying to fix the beaches for business, but one would think to do this before the tourist season begins.
Wasted money for sure. Mother nature always takes back what does not belong.
