You'll be right on the river. Bring the fishing arsenal. Shad, Smallies, Stripers, LM, Channel cats, Flathead cats, Walleye, Trout and assorted panfish all live in that stretch of river. I happen to love that place. It's a little busy on Memorial weekend however.

Eddie is right on the money with that! Add to the list musky and record class carp! Also you have Smitty's Liqours and Deli right across the street! Your 5 minutes from the Paulinskill, 10 from the Pequest, the Flatbrook, Pohat and Musky are within 30-45 minutes along with numerous WTS's. You shouldn't have any trouble finding water to fish.

If you guys have kayaks take a ride upriver, over the 611 bridge into Portland and put in right by the pedestrian bridge. Park right on the street. Fish, float and drink your way back to the campground. Tons of of good water to fish along that stretch. Or, take a ride right to the Gap for the extended version.

Go there every year. We do the float from Portland for a short trip or
the gap down for a day long float. Use hellagramites for bait .

Is Smitty's convenient enough to go to for ICE daily? Any suggestions on bait/lures?

Thanks again!

Yes it's right across the street! The campground also has a store which is in the main office! You can find most of the necessities there as well as ice. Also, there's an awesome farm market a mile or so away on the east bound side of 46. They have some really good stuff in there.

Bait??? Bring everything! Plastic jigs, shads, Keitechs, crank baits, stick baits, spinners! Trust me, bring the arsenal! It doesn't hurt to have some live bait on hand, nite crawlers, shiners and stuff like that.
