Interesting, what do they feed the muskies when they're that small?

The NJ hackettstown crew does an awesome job spawning these beautiful creatures, thanks for the photo's and insights. NJ has an excellent hatch rate % also.
I believe the small musky fry are the only species that requires live food ( fat head minnows) to eat when raising them to stocking size.
Ken, did they mention anything about Echo lake trapnets? I was there on Saturday and they were not set in their usual locations. I believe that photo is actually form echo nets in the past.

Very cool stuff....thanks for posting! Did they say what happened to the small mouths or what impact that would have on stockings this year? Meaning is the stocking a one and done with the hatchery or are there other runs they'll try. If not, will they purchase fry from outside the state or does it mean stocking this year for small mouth won't happen?

Looks like you had a fun day.

As I understand it, NJ doesn't really stock that many bass. They mostly rely on natural reproduction and stock bass only in a few bodies of water that are having population problems or were drained and re-filled. Correct me if I am wrong.
