So I worked Saturday and didn't feel like heading out for a short time after so I headed out early this morning. Go there and was first in line before they opened up. Only me and 2 other cars there when they opened up so I got my spot easy and turned out we all spread out nicely around the lake for once as people showed up. The next 2 hours consisted of me fanning my spinner and trout magnet wading around a good portion of half the lake with not a nibble. During this time only 1 smalllll stockie was lifted from the water and there were about a dozen people at that point. Report from those there the day prior was also very limited numbers caught. Very surprised. So it's about 1030 and I'm about to head out but I decide to finally switch my spot and even after 30 mins there I've about had my fill. Casting the spinner and it's just about to be pulled out of the water when I get slammed almost like a topwater strike. Thought it must be a bass as I actually didn't get a glimpse as I wasn't fully concentrated. After a hell of a fight of drag peels on the ultra light I get the beaut in. A 23 inch chunky mama. Beautiful fish too, pics don't do it justice. That kept me around for about 30 more mins then called it quits. Only saw and heard 2 other fish being caught during those 4 hours. Guess that leaves hundreds of them for me tomorrow :)))) hope everyone is enjoying opening weekend
