There's a substantial stream leading into Pompton Lake, right? Guess it gets much of the lake muddy after a lot of rain? Haven't fished there yet.....so any ancillary info welcome. Thanks.

Yea the water gets stained. I was there on Sunday and it was off color. Heard of 2 bass caught on a boat and a few bluegill and perch.

Yessir, and stagnant scummy when there's no rain. I like it best after a flush.

Yes- as mentioned- it filters thru potash lake from the ramapo. The ramapo below the falls always pretty turbulent.

Before it hits the lake theirs a metal berm- some of the stream goes left and right to help keep running and not natural.
The main channel right there is prob 40 yards wide maybe. So yes- substantial, and muddy there after rain

The Pompton River feeds the lake. Most of the runoff goes into Potash Lake and that can get pretty murky. Once you go further south onto Pompton Lake the affects of the runoff are reduced and the further south you go on Pompton Lake the clearer the water will be. Most of the sediment winds up in Potash and the northernmost end of Popmton Lake.

The Ramapo River feeds Potash then the Pompton Lake, It becomes the Pompton River at the bottom of the Pompton Lake Dam at Hamburg Tnpk.
