Decided to go out fishing today for the first time this year and to the test the custom rod that I built. Put the rod to work by getting a couple slaps. White and Chartreuse jig worked well today for the couple of hours that they decided to bite. Not a bad outing for the first time this year.

you did better than i did.i was in the north end of the cong today,i had the wind to deal with.the crappies did not want to play today.i also threw a white/chartreuse jig and a white/orange jig under a bobber.i also had a shimano reel failure as well. serves me right for not using my penn 4400ss, that will be the last time i will ever use a shimano 2000syhncopate reel or any shimano reel  glad to hear you did well.tight lines:cool:

I was on the lake all day. Morning was horrible with the wind and didn't have a single bite. The fish started feeding slow around 2-3pm then we had a steady bite till we left at about 630. Ended up with 1 pickerel, 12 perch and and 10 crappie all on fatheads.

The action didn't pick up for me till around 1 and had steady pick till I left at around 3. Yea the wind was kinda a pain sometimes as it would switch every few minutes. Hopefully the wind will die down and tomorrow is another day.

I was out there by bb and didn't do as well as I would have liked. Had a few crappies and no perch. Two big slime darts on light tackle made my day worth it. The wind was a pain in the ass fishing bobbers and jigs.

The syncopate is like a $25 reel. Jump up to the Sedona or Sahara and you'll get a decade out of it. Just be sure to grease it up after purchase. Lots of reels come bone dry when new. You have to manage expectations when buying any brand at that level.

Agreed. I have probably 20+ Shimano reels and I rarely will buy any other brand. Step up to the higher end models and you'll never look back. I still have a Stradic 1000 that I bought in high school about 15 years ago that's my go to setup in that size.
