Morning quickie on the river...3/26

Had some time kill this morning and took the long ride to the old river. Brisk morning out there but the fish didn't seem to mind. Shad addicts were out and about but I didn't see any of those silver beasts caught. I did see a fish jump though, could've been a Shad or maybe a Big Dizzle Trout. Who knows? Everything that swims is going to start snappin' this week in my opinion. Looking forward to rippin' into some Shad this year. Should be a good run hopefully.

Back to the report. Went 2 for 3 on old marble eyes dropping a really nice fish almost resulting in me almost snapping another rod over my knee, LOL! Got 1 female spawner at 23 inches or so and keeper male @ 18 inches. The fish I lost had some weight to it. Really big head shakes as well. Oh well, I'll be back for that fish eventually. Visited another spot on the way out and managed an aggressive Smallie on a jig tipped with a plastic and a shiner. Good fight in that big river current! Everything's coming to life, WOW!!!

Big thanx to my buddy James @ Behre Bait and Tackle! He always has what I need to catch the fish I'm looking for! Gots to have those lucky large shiners! YEA BUDDY!!!

Nice, I caught 43 shad the past 2 days but they were all gizzards.

Nice fish! I saw a guy pull a herring out from under the Lake Shenandoah dam yesterday, won't be long before the shad run starts!

Nice job eddie! When i was at shop rite this morning they were selling walleye for $9.99 a pound. Never saw it there before. The fillets looked similar to the size fish you caught. Seeing your pics make me wish i bought it now. Haha!

The smaller males absolutely abuse the females during the spawn! Looks like they get tortured! Amazing what some species do to each other to mate and make babies! Haha!
