My most special trout fishing memories--winter. Even when I wasn't catching. But that's February and March, I think. Haven't been on a stream January, unless mistaken...though I could consult my handwritten log. 1975, I was 14, met a self-described "fishing machine" that Feb who took me to Hunterdon streams two weeks later, telling me he catches a holdover or two even in January. Those streams are not Production Water. We fished with ice covering most of the holes, guides freezing, snow on the banks. I still remember the greenish tint to the water at the Sergeantsville Covered Bridge.

I found that to be true , tried to fish the flat brook on fri. morn. I could not find a spot to fish due to 3"s of ice .
