Got out today at Hook's Creek trying to maybe hook up with a holdover. Place looked beautiful from my last update and the weather was perfect. Started with a trout magic in white and chartreuse on a white and chartreuse jig head to nothing. Fished it slower than slow not a bite. Threw on a mepps inline in rainbow which is my go to for hooks creek. After about 20 mins it gets slammeddd. Thought it must be a big bow. On the ultralight it put up a hell of a fight. Turned out to be a good sized bass. Good looking chubby fish too and he choked it down. First bass of the year and probably last fish for awhile as my baby girl should be here next week. Loved seeing all the fish caught this winter, looks like spring is coming early so tight lines boys. Stay in touch

Very nice.
Great to see you found a time to get out since looks like you about to have your hands full with a different catch.
Congratulations buddy.

Wasn't Hooks Creek recently restocked? Looks like they threw in a few "full-sized" fish as well. Good to see that fishery rebounding.
Best of luck with the little one!

It's been about a year and a half since they restocked. Supposedly with bass and cats. I've seen some jumbo white perch pulled out too. I'd like to think there had to have been some fish that survived the high salinity water and they just didn't wanna waste stocking it with trout for those years. Trout have been doing well there though. Thanks everyone so far on the kind words. Even you Andre
