Nice

I'm certain this is a result of good karma from the fish gods that appreciate your cleaning duties.

I regularly fish in the lake trout capital of the NE US, The Finger Lakes ... I have yet to even catch a 10 pounder, and our average fish is about 4 pounds.. NJ fresh water fisheries management in fantastic.. you guys have wonderful fishing in the somewhat limited size fresh water lakes you have.. We rarely see even a 10 pounder taken here.. a 20 pound laker? In 25 years here, never heard of one.. You guys also have bigger pike on average than we have here.. We have more waterways that hold them, but the fisheries NJ does have produce some big fish. That laker is something for the angler to be proud of for sure , but the lakes and streams of NJ are very well managed to be able to produce fish like that... bob

And people even say that NJ only has small Lake Trout - that photo proves them wrong!
Great catch! I haven't seen a photo of a big one since the 32lb record caught in the same place.
I'd be happy even with a small lake trout - not a species i have caught yet, but someday will!

There was a 17lber and a 21lber caught last year, so the valley still produces large trout. But definitely a needle in a haystack.

I read that they stocked those trout there a long time ago as well. I live close, so maybe I'll investigate sometime!

They stocked about 6400 combined in 2012/2013. But as everyone knows, there are no fish in the skunksville!

Saw the post on fb... another monster from the Valley. Here's a couple more pics they posted. They said it taped out at 39-3/4" with 20-1/2" of girth! I'm still tryin to land a 30"+ myself!!!

Nice fish. Kind of sucks that there are always haters out there questioning the size of fish.

Yep, I've taken pictures that made a 20lb fish look like 10 and pictures that make a 10lb fish look like 20. Heck I should dig up a few pictures I took a few years ago, I was proving a point to my buddy that always wanted to question the size of every fish picture so I took a picture that did a fish no justice, then I turned around for a different back drop and played with angles to take a really good picture. He didn't believe it was the same fish till I should him the distinct markings.

Ive seen several pictures of this fish. All of them have him pushing it towards the camera. Its a big ass laker. There is no.way it taped out to be anywhere near 39". All.the angles in the world cant make that 39" lol. Everyone knows how fisherman are. No hate at all. Its a trophy valley laker. Google some pics of the 17+lbers caught a few years ago. Calling that 20lbs takes away from the catch. Nailing that on 6lb test is pretty awesome though.

How many fish with that shaped body have you caught that were roughly 39"? I've caught literally hundreds of salmon that size and hundreds more that were larger. That fish could definitely be 39" and you can't tell from a picture. There are way to many variables including the size of the person holding it to tell.

If that fis is 39 then all my steelhead and lakers are 30lbs plus lol. I love this site. Cant wait to post my 13lb smallie pics this year and see if you accept them without question because of angles lol smh

i don't understand the reason behind posting crap like this? the guy who caught this fish didn't even come on NJF and post it, andy did. feel free to show up with a tape measure at the dude's house if you're so concerned that he inflated the numbers.

any old timers here remember a guy named boo hackney? That guy consistently jigged up 14 plus pound lakers. I was told He had a mold of RV in his basement showing all the productive humps.

The one vertical picture from fb does it justice but i doubt 39"....
The guy ties flies so maybe the girth is true?:D
Def an awesome catch from a retired basketball player
