Cool pic, I've seen them perched there before as well. There's actually a couple in that area. Showed up at my spot the other day and upon me approaching, a red tail flew off. Noticed once I started casting that there were two Bald Eagles perched about 20yds away. Sucks they don't know about the toxins in the fish they're eating.

It was cool that he was perched on the flotsam that is stuck on the safety wire above the falls

I do see hawks along that stretch all the time

so those of you who have seen it may wish to file a report

Most that are seen this time of year are just traveling through. Pretty interesting stuff Merrill Creek has done the last few years, they have banded a few fledglings and they flew all over the place. One even disappeared for several months way up in Canada. Others have been down on the Chesapeake, and flying around between Maryland and Pennsylvania. Wouldn't believe how much they move around till they find a long term nesting spot

One of the greatest things about fishing is having the opportunity to observe all the other wild creatures that share the waterways with us.
Here is a pic I shot last August when I saw a bald eagle and an osprey fighting over a catfish floating in the water. In the end, the eagle chased off the osprey and won the catfish.

I drive a truck and drive up and down rt 21 regularly. Im always amazed by the amount of wildlife along the river. I have seen Eagles mink fox racoons and so many diffrent kinds of ducks. Wildlife is amazing that it doesn't just survives but thrives in the most congested part of our state.

Proof that the Passaic is slowly coming back. Im sure he would make a meal out of any small pike or striper :):)

I have seen one on the Passaic in the great swamp area - watches me fish. Caught a few pike with clear talon marks on their backs
