Hard to believe this monster was caught in Dec, on a party boat, and over 9'. My boys, 11yrs old & 1st ever Offshore SB trip, will forever be apart of this story and trip. This will be hard to top. This was awesome and MAKO MIKE was able to seal the deal!
Not one ounce of this beast went to waste, everyone got a piece which was cool! Hats off to the V team and Capt'n Jeff for making it happen!

Grilled Mako over rice with a sun-dried/garlic roasted/ jalapeno compound butter.....DEE-LICIOUS!

Where's the video? Can't believe that fish was only 300 lbs! Amazing catch, just goes to show the water temperatures these bigger fish can tolerate.

Thanks! That fish still looks bigger than 300 lbs.! Chances of landing that fish under the circumstances were slim to none so great job by everyone involved working together. When they opened the fish up, did she have pups inside. with that girth she was either pregnant or must have been feasting on sea bass and bluefish for quite some time. Great story and good to see everyone on board shared in the bounty. Very cool thing to do! That meal presentation looks absolutely awesome!

I was on the trip but wasn't back there when they cut the stomach open but was told she had a few whole seabass and porgies in her.

If it was in fact 9 feet long it was more then 300#. Should be in the 400 range. Did they get it on a scale or just an estimate? Was really cool of the mate who caught it to pass it around to all. Awesome adventure you and your kids will never forget. :)
