On Saturday, Chrisper and I decided to switch gears and head out in search of New Jersey's chrome bullets...the landlocked salmon. After a short discussion, we decided to try a super, ultra secret location for the feisty salmonids.

We got to the spot and set out the spread. It didnt take too long to find the fish. We began picking away at the landlocked salmon. Most bites were singles, but we did have one double header. After a couple of hours of fishing, we caught six landlocked salmon, lost another and had a few hits that didn't hook up. Most of the fish were average sized, but I caught my personal best landlocked salmon at 19.5 inches.

Nice fish dudes! They are super fun to catch. Pound for pound they're some strong Salmonids! Good stuff!!!:D

P.S. Highly recommend going for them through the ice if certain waters freeze nicely! Epic battle on the panfish popper style rods!!!:D

I kept some 2 years ago they are quite tasty. I think I butterflied them and grilled them seasoned. I'd compare them to the rainbows in rvr that have been hold over and feeding naturally for a while (not the freshly stocked ones). I didn't have them smoked but I'm sure that'd be good too.

I usually use a friends smoker. We've done lots of trout. Never a salmon. Those landlocks look pretty good.

Bet they taste better than Yuri's smoked steelhead--yuuuuuck!
